Description

This artisan pizza dough recipe yields a crispy, chewy, and bubbly crust, perfect for homemade pizzas.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions.
  8. Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  9. Add your favorite toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

  • For best results, use a pizza stone in the oven.
  • Let the dough rest for a few minutes after rolling it out for easier handling.
