Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Fill the donut pan with the batter and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Let the donuts cool before filling them with the cream mixture.
  7. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  8. Fill each donut with the whipped cream mixture.
  9. Sprinkle granulated sugar on top of each filled donut and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden brown.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
