- 4 large sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the sweet potatoes by peeling and chopping them into uniform pieces. Boil in a large pot of water until tender, approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Mash the sweet potatoes in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Add the brown sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until combined.
- Transfer the sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Make the topping by mixing the chopped pecans, flour, and softened butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the topping over the sweet potato layer.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For an extra touch, garnish with crushed pecans before serving. You can prepare the sweet potato mixture a day in advance and refrigerate it.
