- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma.
- Combine the brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl, add the warm brown butter, and whisk until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, whisking thoroughly after each addition, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl, then alternately add this to the wet mix with the milk until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the bars completely in the pan.
- Whisk the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and a tablespoon of milk until smooth for the glaze, and drizzle it over the cooled bars.
- Slice into squares and serve.
