Ingredients

- 4 medium yams (sweet potatoes)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and slice the yams into 1/2 inch thick rounds.
- Melt the butter in a large mixing bowl over gentle heat or microwave, then stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add the sliced yams to the bowl and toss until coated.
- Arrange the yams in a baking dish and pour the remaining butter mixture over them.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting occasionally, until caramelized and tender.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute with dairy-free butter. You can prep yams a day in advance.
