Description
A classic Chinese dish that combines tender beef and vibrant broccoli in a savory sauce, perfect for quick dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or sesame oil
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons cold water
- Cooked white or brown rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil and stir-fry the broccoli for 2–3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Add minced garlic and ginger to the center of the skillet and stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Pour in beef broth, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Stir to combine, scraping any browned bits from the bottom.
- Return beef to skillet and stir to combine, adding the cornstarch slurry gradually while stirring.
- Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then serve hot over cooked rice.
Notes
Marinate beef ahead of time for deeper flavor. Customize with extra vegetables if desired.
