  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk and yeast in a small bowl and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the melted butter, sugars, and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring gently.
  3. Incorporate the flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms, then knead for 5-7 minutes on a floured surface.
  4. Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
  7. Cut the dough into strips and twist them before placing on a prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and aromatic.
  9. Whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk for a glaze, then drizzle over warm twists before serving.

Notes

Melted coconut oil can be used as a dairy-free alternative. You can also freeze the dough after the first rise for later baking.
