Description

A deliciously flaky and buttery croissant bread loaf that combines the best of both worlds, perfect for breakfast or as a delightful snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, for egg wash

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the cold butter between two sheets of parchment paper into a rectangle.
  6. Roll out the dough into a larger rectangle and place the butter in the center.
  7. Fold the dough over the butter and seal the edges.
  8. Roll out the dough again and fold it into thirds, then refrigerate for another 30 minutes.
  9. Repeat the rolling and folding process two more times.
  10. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  11. Let it rise for 1 hour, then brush with egg wash.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

  • Ensure the butter is very cold for the best flaky texture.
  • For a sweeter loaf, add chocolate chips or dried fruit.
