Description

Delightful eggless buns filled with vibrant tutti frutti, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (soft)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup tutti frutti
  • 2 tbsp milk (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Mix the warm milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and the yeast in a bowl. Let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the flour, remaining sugar, softened butter, and salt. Mix to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Lightly incorporate the tutti frutti into the dough.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions, shaping into balls.
  7. Arrange the buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise for another 30 to 40 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the tops with milk.
  9. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Brush the tops with melted butter after baking.

Notes

Make-ahead: Prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate overnight. For variations, try different dried fruits or chocolate chips.
