Rich chocolate brownies with a creamy, gooey layer of caramel made from sweetened condensed milk.

- 14 oz (396 g) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs at room temperature
- 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp (1.5 g) salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a mixing bowl.
- Stir in the granulated sugar while the butter is warm.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, whisking thoroughly.
- Add the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour 3/4 of the sweetened condensed milk into the batter, gently folding it in.
- Layer the batter in the prepared baking pan, drizzling with the remaining condensed milk.
- Swirl the caramel through the batter with a knife.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Allow to cool for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares.
Notes
Make-ahead: Prepare the batter ahead of time and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. You can also use an air fryer instead of an oven.
