Description
A delightful poke cake infused with warm cinnamon, brown sugar, and topped with a creamy glaze, reminiscent of classic cinnamon rolls.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of yellow cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined and the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, mix together the ground cinnamon and brown sugar in a small bowl.
- Once the cake is out of the oven, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes evenly across the surface of the cake.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the warm cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the glaze over the warm cake, allowing it to be absorbed.
- Allow the cake to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
For best results, glaze just before serving. Can be made a day in advance; simply store wrapped in the refrigerator.
