Description

Mini Beef Wellingtons are a delicious bite-sized appetizer featuring tender beef wrapped in flaky pastry, perfect for parties or special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 package puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Season the beef tenderloin with salt and pepper, then sear in olive oil over high heat until browned on all sides.
  3. Remove the beef from the pan and let it cool. In the same pan, sauté the mushrooms until they are soft and moisture has evaporated.
  4. Spread Dijon mustard over the cooled beef, then top with the mushroom mixture.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares large enough to wrap around the beef.
  6. Place the beef in the center of each pastry square, fold the pastry over, and seal the edges.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add herbs like thyme or rosemary to the mushroom mixture.
  • These can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking.
