- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Glaze or powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Prepare the dry ingredients by whisking together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl.
- Combine the wet ingredients by whisking eggs in another bowl, then add buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Blend the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack and glaze or dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
These bars can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container. They can be reheated for a warm treat.
