Description

A simple yet rewarding process to create a flavorful One-Day Sourdough Bread, ideal for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, bread flour, and salt.
  2. Add starter and water: Pour in the active sourdough starter and the water, and combine until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for about 4-6 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven: About 30 minutes before the dough finishes rising, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. Shape the dough: Turn the risen dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
  7. Transfer the loaf onto parchment paper if using a baking sheet, and cover for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake the loaf: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

For a flavor boost, consider adding herbs or spices to the dough. Ensure your sourdough starter is active before starting.
