Description

A delicious twist on the classic pigs in a blanket, these pretzel-wrapped sausages are served with a rich and creamy beer cheese dip.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of cocktail sausages
  • 1 can of refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the crescent roll dough and cut it into triangles.
  3. Wrap each cocktail sausage in a triangle of dough.
  4. In a pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda.
  5. Boil each wrapped sausage for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. For the beer cheese dip, combine cheese, beer, flour, mustard, and garlic powder in a saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Stir until melted and smooth.
  10. Serve the pretzel pigs in a blanket with the beer cheese dip.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, add some cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
  • These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven.
