  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Whisk in 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of heavy cream until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon garlic powder, salt, and pepper, cooking until thickened.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the diced ham and half of the shredded cheese. Pour half of the creamy sauce over the top.
  5. Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes, ham, cheese, and sauce.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is bubbling and golden.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley.
