- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups cooked ham, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Whisk in 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of heavy cream until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon garlic powder, salt, and pepper, cooking until thickened.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the diced ham and half of the shredded cheese. Pour half of the creamy sauce over the top.
- Repeat layering with the remaining potatoes, ham, cheese, and sauce.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is bubbling and golden.
- Cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley.
