Ingredients

- 1 lb minced lamb or beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup beef stock
- 2 sheets of shortcrust pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for glazing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a pan, sauté the chopped onion until soft.
- Add the minced meat, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon, cooking until browned.
- Stir in the beef stock and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Roll out the shortcrust pastry and cut into circles for the base and top.
- Place the meat mixture in the center of the pastry circles and cover with another circle.
- Seal the edges and make a small hole on top for steam to escape.
- Brush with beaten egg and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or peas.
- Can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
