Description

A simple and delicious recipe for Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls that combines all the flavors of traditional cabbage rolls without the hassle of rolling them.


Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.
  2. In the slow cooker, layer half of the chopped cabbage at the bottom.
  3. Spread half of the meat mixture over the cabbage.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes and half of the tomato sauce on top.
  5. Layer the remaining cabbage, followed by the rest of the meat mixture, and top with the remaining tomato sauce.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the meat is cooked through and the cabbage is tender.

Notes

  • Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra flavor.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Leftovers can be frozen for up to 3 months.
